the Marshal Liza

A human woman? in a high ranking offical job?  Well when you look at all the things that she had done in her home kingdom of Blackpuelle, you know for a fact she deserves her rank.  To make matters far more interesting...she's probably one of the nicest person of her rank as well, having a tendency to treat outsiders with the utmost respect and any troublemakers will usually have a gentle hand by Liza...unless they keep pushing her buttons.

The wild-haired Liza was once known to have been once a Princess of Blackpuelle, but it seems that if you ask the city, you'll find that everyone does not want to talk about her back history...but they do say very good things about her.

History:

I) Caged

Liza is a Homunculus, the third of Seven and created years after her….’brother’, Orden. Unlike her brother, she wasn’t created for any task like hunting down the First Homunculus or Orden. Instead, the Alchemist created the third in the thought process of a new, brilliant scheme, one that will involve ‘perfect’ specimens now. So this third Homunculus was to be a test subject, using different ingredients in the magical part of its creation...

Just like the first two, it was born in a flask, but then it grew quickly and took the form...of a female human child. It took one look at the Alchemist, and cried out happily. “Daddy!”

…and she was thrown into an empty quarters. Obviously she was not a success in his mind. For Months he left her in there, making his Chimeras send scraps to her to survive. But then a plan had formed in his head…if he couldn’t create her to be a beast, then he can train her to be one. From then, he started to use illusions on her, mostly to make her watch terrible things, things that she dares to never repeat ever in her life. He was going to make her view these illusions until her mind would break…or her heart. To a young mind like her, it was not going to take long…

Perhaps there is a connection between Homunculus, perhaps the First Homunculus, Cheron, could hear everything in the Alchemist’s Tower, perhaps it was just coincidence that Cheron was there, hearing the little Homuculus’ cries, and came to her to witness what she was going through. Cheron saw the evil in her Master’s heart once before, but it seemed that this was by far the worst that she has seen her creator do. Knowing that she could not free the girl from her prison without the Alchemist knowing, she distorted the illusions then, making them peaceful and tranquil to the Homunculus, yet leaving a magical web so that anybody else that saw the visuals, they would see the horror she was suppose to be watching.

After a few more years of solitude...the girl had enough, and finally did what she wanted to do…she slowly escaped her prison and ran. Though it was another low blow for the Alchemist, he did not pursue her, for around that time he had created the Fourth and Fifth Homunculus, who were by far superior to her in his eyes. She was in the great far north by the time the Alchemist set all the pieces for the ‘Song of Destruction’.
II) The Advisor and the Empress
Liza lived in the wilderness for generations, with the only civilized beings she encountered were the Elves of the wood. Due to her very small form and unsure if she should grow or not, she was often nicknamed the ‘child of the wood’ by the Elves, a character that became a great fairy tale for a time.

Most human’s had not even seen the little child of the wood until recently, when she took a shortcut along a dirt path…and nearly got ran over by men on horseback who were guarding a carriage. The warriors were surprised to see such a small one, and tried their best to dodge her, but a horse reared back, ready to stomp her. In a panic, she transformed herself into a dog to run. This caught wind of the man inside the carriage, and asked his men to find the girl turned to a dog. Because of her panic, she was easily caught by the warriors.

The man in the carriage asked them to bring her inside his carriage, where he had a stash of food for dinner for he and his men. He fed her, spoke to her, treated her like a kind man would. He asked the Homunculus if she could change into any human form. When she showed him that she could, he told her that his name was Tai Lin, and he is an Advisor to the Emperor who ruled the kingdom of Blackpuelle.

He explained to her that the great Empire that Blackpuelle controlled was falling apart, and yet the great Emperor was trying his best to not only keep the land together, but to slowly make the armies grow stronger so it can return back to its former glory. There was only one problem. The Emperor’s daughter, Liza, died due to complications while the Emperor is away with his army. Tai Lin knew that the knowledge of Liza’s death would certainly break his Emperor’s heart, and the last days of the Kingdom would finally come.

The Empress, Liza’s mother, knew of this...and asked the Advisor to find somebody that could replace Liza...a special person that could become the girl in body and mind. The Advisor believes that the Homunculus should be able to become Liza..

The Homunculus listened to his tale...and seeing that it would truly make so many people happy, she agreed. The Advisor brought her home to meet the Empress, who heard of the Homunculus and knew that she could do the things that could help the Empire. Soon, the Empress described Liza to the Homunculus in great detail, and even showed her pictures of her beloved daughter. The Homunculus saw and heard everything, and took the form of the Emperor’s daughter…looking every bit like the girl. Within a short month, she was taught everything the original daughter knew of, and when the Emperor finally came home to see his beloved family...not one person could tell the difference.

III) Life as a Princess
As the new Liza grew up with her family, she started to see the politics that she was getting into. She was the second youngest of the entire family, with three older brothers and one young sister. Originally she was to have the role of being the first to be married off, though it seemed the Empress was smart and somehow persuaded her husband to hold off until she had a better understanding of the world.

When she grew to about fifteen, she was often considered to be a gentle, though intelligent soul. She was the only member of the family that stepped into the city, helped hand out bread to the homeless and even a few gold coins to each. So thus she was often revered as a Saint by many. And, to top it all off, she had a great memory, so many of the townsfolk she spoke to she would remember them, their occupations, and even their last conversations with them. To the People of Blackpuelle, she was a great breathe of fresh air.

The Empress often scolded her for all her outings, but the Adviser was happy by all the good attention she brought to the family, since the three brothers were often spiteful, and dragged the family name down. Gerano, Tunde and Deno were all warlike and would rather bash their enemies’ heads in than to help the people. Gerano and Deno were the most brutal, though Tunde was the more crafty of the three…and Liza often grew weary of what Tunde was plotting.

Nevertheless, her life was pretty routine, having to survive her three brothers, her cute but mouthy sister, her gentle though strict mother, and kind but demanding father. Her closest friend was the man that picked her off the road, the Advisor, who continued to teach her all the things that he knows...in which his knowledge is vast.

The Empire started to regain much of its former glory…until one tragedy struck.

The great Emperor...had died.

IV) The War of the Eagles

It happened one night, and sudden. Life simply just escaped their father, who was not ill nor was he weak. So his death was the surprise by everyone...and worse yet, he did not plan out which of his sons to be an heir. This lead to turmoil by the majority of the city, and within a few short weeks, many people grouped together to back up one of each of the brothers.

As the oldest, Gerano had the greatest claim, but he was also noted to have a weakness: Lust. He often favored a rather famous whorehouse and may or may not have a few illegitimate children from the local whores.

The youngest, Deno, was also a good choice, due to the fact that he was calmer than his eldest brother, but was a bit of a hothead and loved to fight, an even lead his forces to battle. At first he sided with Gerano to become king, but after a few weeks, he saw the weakness in his brother’s heart and believed he should step down and let a stronger man take over.

Tunde…was the middle brother, and in truth much of the people were weary of him to begin with. He was the schemer, and there were rumors that he helped his father pass. Still, he proved to be far more competent than his two brothers, but the other two disagreed. Soon enough, much of the armies fell behind each of the brothers, and War broke out...in the center of Blackpuelle.

Liza was quick to act, she took armed soldiers that did not follow any brother, as well as nobles and even townsfolk and had them help the rest of the population to get away from the battles, even came to the brother’s encampments and force them to take the battles elsewhere, which worked at least half-the time.

Within a few months, the War of the Eagles, as many peasents started to call it due to the family sigil, finally had one of the brothers fall from grace. Tunde, managed to finally get the upper hand of Gerano, and killed his brother.

When Tunde started to focus his armies against Deno, word started to rear its ugly head that said that Liza was not the original Liza, but a fraud. This, added with the fact that she constantly tried to help the people, lead people to believe that she was truly a fake, though most of her followers were...confused, not quite sure what they should believe.

As many people were fueled into finding out Liza’s true origins, Tunde finally managed to beat Deno, and to prove his dominance, he slew his brother in front of the castle gates. Many people feared Tunde by this point...the only thing that now stood in his way was his own mother, the Empress.

That was until a fire burned down the wing where the family lived...The Empress helped her youngest daughter escaped, but soon was consumed by the flame.

Liza, though false, loved the Empress and her little step-sister...when the fire consumed the Empress, it also brought the attention of the entire Kingdom...and despite their concerns over Liza’s identity, much of the army as well as most of the Kingdom stood behind her.

This was something Tunde had not predicted.

V) The False-Princess

Liza’s friend, Tai Lin, Managed to find out that the reason why the truth came out about Liza was because Tunde somehow managed to get a hold of it, and spread the truth like wildfire.

Despite so many people turned to follow her, the truth of her existence started to grow heavier, and she knew that even if she was victorious, she would make a number of enemies. So she did something that Tunde also did not predict: She laid her life out to the people. In front of people she knew, as well as others that she just barely met, she told the truth of her existence...she was not Liza, she was not even human. She told them that her telling the truth was not to scare them, but she wanted them to put a judgement on her.

She held out her hands, and told them to judge her as a false-Princess...but as people were trying to decide what to do with the news of the ‘false-empress’, she came to those that she knew very well, and spoke to them outloud...showing them slowly to each of them that despite the fact that she wasn’t the Princess, the person they knew, they trusted and even followed, was her.

She eventually told them that the only lie she ever had was the fact that she wasn’t the Princess...Many were confused, some were angry, some even left. Still, the majority of the forces stuck with her, and followed her into battle.

Despite all the deceit, and the power of his words to the public...many followed Liza against him. Tunde was unable to face off against so many and fell to Liza’s army. It was noted that he was slain by one of Liza’s generals at the time, though he to was slain by one of Tunde’s last warriors.

The last battle came and gone, and Liza, her stepsister, the Advisor Tai Lin, and the people of Blackpuelle all had to make an arrangement. Liza’s Stepsister, Alana, was far too young to become an Empress, and with the War of the Eagles, much of the kingdom was in shambles and the Emperor’s ideals were decimated by all the damage. The Empire was no more.

After a month of debate, Liza, with the assistance of Tai Lin, brought in what became the new era of Blackpuelle. The kingdom suddenly became a Oligarchy, with a Senate that would run the city and the kingdom. The King or Queen would act as the head of the senate, and will act as both the final vote as well as the judge to make sure people stay on the tasks at hand.

VI) Marshal
As Alana was far too young for this role, Tai Lin was to be her mouthpiece until she was old enough to become the head. Many nobles and Generals who are now too old to stay on the battlefield were now a part of the Senate. Much to the surprise of people who followed one of the Brothers, they to were given the job as Senator.

Liza felt pride when much of the people accepted this new form of government, and finally took her step down, knowing she could have become the Empress, but knew that role would be short lived.

Then she was in for a surprise...though people were disappointed with the truth of her existence, they welcomed her to stay in the city...in fact they begged the Senate to give Liza a chance to do something that can still help the people, since she did so well to try and help them before.

There was no true role for what they were asking for Liza...but Tai Lin knew what they were asking for. After a little bit of deliberation, he formed a new job that would fit her role very well...Marshal.

He brought Liza in to the Senate, and announced to them, and the people that Liza, for being a hero in the war and the recreation of the Kingdom, will be honored with the command as Marshal, a protector of the people and holder of the Law. The city was far too large for her so that she would be the first of a number of assigned Marshals.

Still, people accepted this, and welcomed their false-princess…and old friend, back to Blackpuelle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personality:

Liza was very kind before, and still to this day is very kind.  She seems to love her city to the point to where she will take walks and talk to all the people that she knows, and introduces herself to all the new people.  When she deals with business, she remains friendly even then.  Many people often believe that she is a little too jolly for her own good, but when she has to deal with enemies, she often seems to finally close up and 'be mean'.  She still seems kind to them, though there is a bit of sarcasm in her voice whenever she does so.  When in a fight?  She's often very fierce, her gentleness seeming to finally slip out of her and she is the bitter creature that she can be.  Afterwards?  She's the kind, jolly character you know once more.  Some of her closer friends see the sadness in her, though it seems to have died after years of making so many friends in Blackpuelle.  So her sadness is only shown when drinking.

Abilities:

Light-Transformation - Liza can easily change change into any form that she wishes as long as it fits along with her weight and size.  She has been known to change into a Wolf, Dog, Deer, and various humans.  Due her life as a Princess, however, she often doesn't change her appearance anymore.

Hyper-Healing - Like all Homunculus, Liza can heal quickly from an attack, as long as she has enough Spirit Energy. When she doesn't have enough energy, she'll remained wounded until her body gets the right amount of Spirit Energy.

Shadowmeld
- The Empress was one of Liza's favorite teachers, and though she had no special ability from the Alchemist's meddling, she learned many abilities from the Empress.  One in which was the Shadowmeld ability, where she can fade in and out of the shadows.  She became experienced enough to where she can take her clothing and armor with her as well as her weapons.

Shadow Weapons
- Liza was taught many things by the Empress, though what the Empress was very impressed by was that Liza figured out one of the biggest secrets in the art of Shadowmelding herself.  Liza first was able to put away any weapons into the shadows, and pull them out at a whim.  Then she did something that impressed the Empress, she was able to create weapons from the shadows.  Each of these weapons were as strong as steel, and like steel it can be damaged over time, but Liza making the weapons disappear and creating them again renews their strength every time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weapons:

Example of one of Liza's Shadow Blades
Macan Luin - Due to much issues with the family, the brothers would have fought over the greatsword Macan Luin.  So the Empress, whose family used the blade before, now was holding onto it until she knew which son to give it to.  Unfortunately, due to the War of Eagles, she knew that in the end, non of the sons should wield it.  She gave the sword to Liza, until her youngest daughter, Alana, can wield it.  It's an old, ancient sword finely designed and one of the few swords in the world that was built off of Mythril, one of the few metals that's far stronger than steel.  Due to it's family value, Liza often does not wield it unless she has to.

Shadow Blades - When Liza uses her abilities to summon shadow weapons, she has been seen using a Bow, knives and various throwing weapons.  But..she favors using her ability to create swords.  Two Bastard sized swords, due to her superhuman strength, she can easily wield them both.  She's like a storm with her two swords, and many often fear her when she comes into battle with both.

Concept

Liza was a character I made many, many years ago with an RP that I had with a very good friend of mine.  Sometime ago, I have lost contact and overall lost the RP with her awhile back.  Since then, one of my favorite characters, Liza, had to be shelved, which is sad considering that I didn’t really put too much into her storyline.  When I started to create the Homunculus, she was in fact the third character that became a part of this story.  I felt like I needed to reintroduce her, and rebuild her backstory as well as redesign her.  Let’s face it, I’m always in love with redheads. So making Liza redhead? Good, finding a girl with beautifully long hair?  …yeah.  All in all...She’s not quite a big character for ‘the Song of Night’, but she’s a big character for Blackpuelle, so...
